Hello everyone, Im back from my 2 day stay in Baltimore. It was a overall great trip, I got to see amazing sights down in the inner harbor, One of the best places to visit in my mind, Also i went down to the O's game on Thursday night and watched them battle the Royals! First off let me say that theyre was about 8,000 people in the stands for the game and it felt like i was watching the Brooklyn Cylones play down in Keyspan park. Seeing the O's play was a good expierience, It reminded me of where the mets were in the early 90's, Lacking home run power in their order but having some good pieces in which can maybe be put together in a few years ( With a solid power bat needed) to make a run at the Yanks- Sox. When me and my girlfriend first got to the game, It was pouring and we were the only one's sitting in the stands at the beginning. The game was boring as i expected until about the 7th inning. I forgot to say who pitched during the game, Steve Trachsel and no i did not boo him when he came out. I actually met him twice and he was an extremely nice guy and even though he didnt do the job during the postseason, He did the job throughout his career with the mets. I often compare him to a Bobby J Jones type of pitcher throughout his duration with the mets. He gave his all and even if some " Real Met fans" did not care for him, I did and he was a okay pitcher and remember people, He was not the number 1 starter on this team, He was a 3 or 4 at best so dont keep on killing this guy when you talk about him.

Now onto the game. The game was rolling along minus any rain and it was boring as expected but the O's who were down throughout the game for a tiny bit came back and tied it off i believe a double by Millar into the gap. I was cheering on the game as i kept on looking at the scoreboard as the mets were battling the Phillies throughout the night. In the 7th inning, A rocket of a line drive came right at me, Well two runs in front of me and i jumped up dove over two rows and just missed making sportscenter for the first time. It would have been the most amazing catch ever and so what i spilt some guys 19 dollar beer, I had a great time and almost made sportscenter. If i had a 17 inch glove, I would have reeled it in and gave my girlfriend a great birthday present. Speaking of her birthday, I gave her a birthday message on the scoreboard. Yes i am a great guy and even though i make fun of a ton of baseball players, I have a heart, a kind one. But as we move on to what happened later in the game let me tell you all to go down and visit Camden Yards, It is one of the best stadiums out there and for as much as i love Shea, It murders it. The museum and ill attach pictures of me next to a few numbers, Mainly # 5( Who was Brooks Robinson but in my mind David Wrights statue for the near future in NY). I also took a picture with a Babe Ruth statue and you will see me giving him a thumbs down. The game slowly moved on and the O's won off a bases loaded double down the line and the crowd of 8 went berserk! The o's won 2-1 and my fantasy pitcher (Ray) got the win and it was a overall good night for me and my almost miraculous catch in the stands.

I watched most of the Mets game today and even though i got ripped on for wearing a mets jersey throughout the weekend, They said did i like the Yankees, then i went on and on how i hate them and wish they would lose for once so we can have headlines on the back pages. Funny story, i was talking to one of the ushers and i asked him about when the Yankees come to town, he said the stadium is two thirds full of yankee fans and he says the yankees have an amazing following in Baltimore and even when i sat down i saw some yankee fans. I know the Yankees have a big following everywhere but still, To hold up two thirds of another stadium is very impressive and i just wish us mets fans can go out and do the same regardless of the abuse we take.

So i listened to most of the mets game driving home from Baltimore today and heard them lose to the Nats and David almost powered one out. Everyone keeps saying that David has 0 home runs all year but hey, Whats the record of the Mets and your team? Who cares if he hits 90 home runs or 9, If the mets are winning and he gets on base, Isnt that all that counts? I mean so what if my fantasy baseball team doesnt get 90 home runs from him, The mets lineup is like a fantasy lineup and others can produce as well. I mean the guy has a 23 game hitting streak and is tremendously on fire at the plate regardless of how many homers the guy hits. He hits the ball well to all fields and almost jacked one out today. So to the press, lay off of him. Look at this, He is the first major league player since 1962 to end one season with a hitting streak of 10 games or more and begin the next year with another one, according to Elias Sports. He is producing in other ways and is helping the team win. If you look at all the mets, most of them dont have a homer yet and i dont even know why i am even talking about this. To me, its a non issue but to other publications it is a firestarter. I just think its a joke with a young kid who does so much on and off the field to be focused on his power alone. His power stroke will be there, Mark my words. So onto to the David watch, He went 2-4 today and almost hit his first homer. Hitting Streak now at 23 games, Closing in on the Mets record. Also here are the Wrightoholics, positive and negatives on my trip and mets baseball.

Positives

1- David Wright extended hitting streak to 23 games.

2- Mets winning Thursday and Friday night.

3- Jose Reyes continuing his assault

4- Joe Smith pitching well today

5- Pelfrey pitching okay

6- Billy Wagner getting into great form

7- Orioles game, stadium.

8- My eyes lighting up seeing the 5-3 F Sign go up next to the mets game on the scoreboard.

  Negatives.

1- Mets losing the Nationals

2- Me missing a line drive by 2 inches and missing the most incredible catch in the history of foul balls in stadiums.

3- Mets losing to the nationals, Did i say that already? It was so negative, i had to say it twice.

4- Mets outhitting the Nats but only scoring 2 runs after getting 11 hits.

5- Having to sit through watching the Royals pathetic lineup.

6- Having to hear chants of throw the ball to Steve Trachsel, made me remember the good old days of Shea stadium when he pitched.

So did you have a good time in Baltimore? I'd love to get there sometime. The next stadium I'd love to travel to is Shea to see the Braves there. I saw what you said about 2/3 Yanks @ Camden...man I would hate that if Turner was filled 2/3 with anyone but Braves fans! You gotta have home field advantage! Down here you can rep your team and you most likely won't get cussed at or spit on but we still like to have the majority of fans in our own park. I never have a problem with people coming to the Ted to cheer their team just as long as they do it with respect. Come on down and check out Turner sometime. It's a good field, great place to see a game, I love it.
I've liked your blogs and I'd like to keep the convo's going about the Mets, Braves and baseball in general. I really like the love you have for the game and your team. Keep it up. You're a real decent and devoted fan and I have a lot of respect for that.

Go Braves!

Nice! Check that park out of your list. A change of scenery is always good. Keeps you in check. I was down in Miami for the weekend. The sun, the humidity... and no I didn't see the Marlins. But it was a fun trip. I will go back down when it's Met-time!

Remember that info you owe me ;)

Oh and hey... Petco next? Found a way for my trip to be cheaper. So who knows...

Hey John...

Cadmen is an awesome place to catch a game. Hope CitiField is as nice... similar throwback design...

Did you see that Charlie Manuel threw a temper tantrum after we punked Philly out 8-1? He challenged some reporter to a fist fight lol. He's a dead man walking unless they turn it around quickly.... so much for the team to beat!
