Its official, Im a Maine-Iac!
The Mets took care of the Pirates in a easy fashion last night and they did it in style, Behind John Maine's pitching and his LONG BALL BAT. I have to admit, I am a Maine-IAC. He is truly becoming one of my favirote mets and as mentioned before, He should have been a All star and should be considered as one of the games best pitchers throughout this season. Granted, It was against the Pirates yesterday but he managed to pitch out of trouble and actually hit a home run off of Ian Snell, Who is one of the best young pitchers in the game and he is not noticed because hes on a horrendous team. Maine, Who picked up win # 11, went 7 innings and gave up 2 runs and stuck out 7 and in the process lowered his ERA to 3.02. He is just on fire minus the past 2 starts throughout the season and he needs to continue this push of strong pitching so the Mets can try and pick up 1st place and head into the playoffs on a amazin note. I am a Maine-iac.
The Mets will play the pirates in game 2 tonight as Tom Glavine goes for win # 299. Glavine, Should be going for his 300th tonight as the last game he was handed a gift wrapped victory with the Mets leading 6-0. Glavine failed to go 4 innings so i guess is the reason why we might see him get # 300 on the road. Glavine needs to start pitching like he did last year in the playoffs because he is not faring well against teams in the NL the whole season and i am worried that this can and will carry over to the playoffs.
The Pirates are one of the worst teams, if not the worst team in the NL. The Mets should easily handle them the next few games and bring upon a bigger lead in the NL east if the Giants can finally score more than 3 runs and beat the Braves. The Braves im not too worried about, Im more worried about the Phillies because of their offensive power and their content of having a powerful rotation if they finally decide to throw Brett Myers back in the rotation. On the otherhand, the mets need to maybe make a trade for a new set up man because Mota does not have anything left and i still dont trust Heilman out of the pen. Pedro is coming back but i am worried about his health and focus going into the playoffs. He will have a few tune up starts and then get thrown into the fire with a rebuilt shoulder and on prays and hopes of Mets fans of weathering the storm and being the old Pedro that we were so accustomed to in the late 90's.
David Wright did nothing last night except for get a Sac Fly much to the dismay of my fantasy teams. Tonight, i hope he hits a home run because its a big week for me and i need the win. He is only 1 player on my team but i need more production out of him to win the title. A perfect world for me would be winning the 2000 dollar title in my fantasy diamond league and then spending all the money in a plane and air fare to watch the Mets win the world series on the Road. Ah, what dreams i have in life.
Has anyone seen what the Yankees have been doing lately? Wow, what a slapping they have been handed teams. Too bad they are beating teams that my high school baseball team could have hit against. Those pitchers are utter garbage and all these wins show to me is that they can beat the DRAYS, ROYALS. I would love to see them continue this against the better teams. If they do and if they finally get near sniffing distance of a playoff spot, I will say that they are a good team. Until then, a team with a over 200 million dollar payroll and these players who are always underachieving ( Minus Arod, Jeter)is a joke. You payed Roger Clemens 879,000 dollars to beat the Royals. Wow, so basically you could have paid John Maine, Ruben Gotay for the whole year combined to have 1 win against the lowly Royals, One of the MLB'S Worst teams along with the Devil Rays for the past 5-10 seasons.
Remember, this site is Wrightoholics and im a Maine-iac and i hope everyone can join the new blog, the Maine-iacs when i finally decide to have more time writing.
