Mets updates...Some Michael Vick news!
I know this is a baseball blog but first i must talk about the whole Michael Vick thing with the dogs and all. Now me being a dog lover as i have two Jack Russell terriers of my own can show some sympathy with the picketters outside of the courthouse and outside of the Falcons camp. In my mind for what Michael Vick has done, He should not be put in jail and be allowed to play football but for every interception that he throws, He should be either electrocuted or his face slammed into the ground just like he did to those poor dogs who he killed due to lack of winning in dog fights. Michael Vick is pure garbage and trash and should never be allowed to play football. He is a utter disgrace to society and it just shows how sick a person can really be. He truly should be electrocuted for every INT he makes throughout his career just to show the pain those dogs went through.
Now back to baseball, The Mets made a move before the deadline hit, That is acquiring Luis Castillo from the Twins for 2 minor leaguers. I like Castillo at second as i feel they were staring to get to Gotays spots and exploit his weaknesses. So this Castillo move was great in my mind and hopefully he can finally be the number 2 hitter that the Mets envisioned the whole season. Castillo who was a great player on the Marlins and had a great hitting streak in the past will look to get back to his greatness with the Mets.
On other trade moves, the Braves made the biggest splash picking up Mark Teixeria from the Rangers for 4 players. Texieria, Will make the braves instantly a better team and make that lineup much more dangerous than it already is. Texieria will provide more stability and allow Andruw Jones to hit in better spots and also just once again try and push the Braves past the Mets. The Braves also made another move make their bullpen stronger in the process by picking up former met Octavio Dotel. Dotel was one of the most coveted acquisitions at the Trade deadline. Although these moves were strong, They still will not overtake the Mets as i think the Mets have a stronger lineup and a stronger Rotation, A rotation in which will become even stronger with the return of Pedro Martinez, The mets ace in the hole. Pedro, Who i dont think will come back like the Pedro of old is coming back off a rebuilt shoulder and even if he is older it looks like a shred of Pedro will be better than none at all.
Tom Glavine took a 2-1 lead into the 7th inning. The mets bullpen blew it. Yes they blew it. I was actually in my house in Pennsylvania listening to the game and i figured that they would blow it somehow and it took the incompetance of Willie Randolph yanking pitcher after pitcher for better matchups by the book. Sometimes, You cant go by the book. Heilman should have stayed in and i dont want to see Mota again . Mota came in with 1st and second and grooved a change up to Bill Hall. Any hitter seeing a pitcher they have never seen before and coming up is looking for a fastball and all that change up did was just feel like a 80 mph fastball coming down the plate to Hall and he was waiting on it with his bat being sped up and crushed that pitch to left field and thus crushed Glavine, His entourage of family members dreams of getting to 300 in Milwaukee. Glavine after the game admitted he was gased due to the adrenaline he had while pitching for 300. David Wright after the game said that he feels Glav earn his spot at 300 on Sunday night in front of his family and a world wide audience. Glavine is going for 300 against a Cub team who is on fire, They need to move on the cubs early and Glavine needs to pitch like he did against the Brewers yesterday.
The Mets bullpen worries me immensely. I feel as if they keep blowing games late, They will be out of first place and maybe out of the playoffs all together. The Mets need to start closing games out and holding leads for Wagner because my heart cant handle all these leads getting squandered. Mota should be pumped full of Hgh and have his head explode. I cant stand watching a guy in Mets uniform who used to be on steroids, I feel like im watching the Yankees with Giambi and Sheffield of last season. Also seeing the Yankees winning lately has gotten all those decals back on the cars and all the jerseys back on the backs of the fans and least importantly, The Yankee trash talk about championships.
David Wright has been on fire as of late and is looking to add to his impressive season stats against the Brew Crew tonight. He had 2 hits yesterday with a Rbi and a stolen base. He has truly been enfuego and looking at his past numbers for the previous games in July just shows hes amazing . David is 7-11 in his last three games and will most likely push his average back over 305 like his career numbers suggest.
