With tears in our eyes, deep sorrow in our souls, and abundant memories in our minds, we say goodbye to Shea - and the '08 season.

We are all still in awe about yesterday's game but it is not a feeling - at least personally - like last year's final outing. The team overcame a lot during the season. From the bullpen falling apart to having everyone - and their mothers - starting at left field. It was a lot to take and the season just ended up being decided in the last week.

It would've been a nice ending to the closing of the park but sadly the circumstances sometimes are not the way we expect them or wish they could be.

For Mets fan the off-season - or the beggining and expectactions of the '09 season- has started. I don't know about you but when is time to have a dinner outing that includes hot dogs and popcorn, I will be there...

To those who fell in love with the game at Shea, keep your memories. They are valuable and you are part of history.

Now, let's look forward to Citi Field when the grass is ready and the bats are back in swing.

I think there's no need for the goverment to bail out the antacid market right now. The weekend (or just about the past week) New York - and all the displaced fans - will show a growth in the revenues for the whole year. Between rotten fish and a rotten bullpen, stomachs are going to be suffering.

Congrats to David for being considered for the Roberto Clemente Award for his work within the team and the community.

Part of what we do is let everyone know the work he does with his foundation.

So we are really happy they are getting recognized for all they do.

Back to TV...although...

I am around again to watch the Mets on TV. I was down south in Miami for the whole weekend but didn't have a chance to catch a game. The only day I was sort of able to go was Saturday and I am really glad I decided against it. My heart can't take a loss like that one.

Still glad they won the series... and the fish is sinking away.

I will share something completely out of context now but it will make sense with tonight's game. You'll see.

Last March, I was sitting @ Dodgertown watching the Mets play (the Dodgers DUH!) and I started chatting baseball, places in Florida, and park food with the guy to my left. It was a weird conversation with a few others about peanuts but it was definitely a fun moment.

At the end of the conversation when talking about position players this year he said: "My nephew is in the Mets organization." I replied: "Oh cool. What's his name?"

"Daniel Murphy. He is a third baseman so who knows when he will be there"

"Cool deal. I will google him when I get home."

Never did but I guess I don't have to now. And don't worry Uncle Murphy, Daniel is doing pretty good so far on the field... even if it's not third base.

Kudos to him for making the Phillies plans go wrong.

(Oh and some love to Delgado, too. He was a happy camper today *wink*)

I hope the seven run lead that they blew on the game that ended today, doesn't reflect on the attitude of the game that starts today. I don't have any more nails to bite, energy to watch another extra innings game or desire to watch the Mets loose the division by one game.

Today the team has to show the fans that they still have it. In boxing they say you can't knock out the same rival twice. Or something along those lines, that lightining...blah, blah.

For one I am not that mad @ the bullpen. Sure it was them @ the end but it was Pedro @ the beginning. All the shift is going to the fact that the bullpen didn't keep the 7-5 lead but Pedro gave away the 7-0... which, after using my calculator I conclude that a 7 run lead is bigger than a 2 run lead.

Wright's RBI Watch: Made it to 100 last night. Congrats!

Mets lost. The Phillies won. .... which means that it can't be stress-free all the time. Wasn't Ramirez supposed to give the Dodgers some edge? Come on Manny, help us out! Getting sweeped by the Phillies? OH, COME ON!

An out-of-state fan is not happy when the game is through CW. Then again I am not as bitter today as I would be if I had actually watched the game.

I guess they didn't have to decide if A. Reyes was going down because well ... (sighs) Maine is out. Castillo is in with no hassle. Let's see how it goes today.

Extra Innings (the bullpen out - nail bitter) and Houston has 2 HRs in the tenth.

Game over. Ouch!!!

100 RBI watch: Stalled

Number 100.... used in:

Science - 100 degrees.... means is boiling water.

Time - 100 years ... means is old... or antique.

In David Wright's RBI count... means it's about to happen for the 4th straight season.
As of yesterday's game he has 99. It could happen today being that the majority of his RBI's are at home games that are at night. But 70 out of the 99 came before the All-Star.. but then again the Post All Star stat don't end 'till the end of the season.

Sooo....We are officially in the 100 RBI watch. Of course 100+ are not a bad thing either.

All this karma and church-going themes only relate that the baseball gods are anticipating that Ryan will be in the lineup today & tomorrow. And even talks of a day off on Sunday.

Let's start with today and see how it goes.

I hate to see Tatis play less but I guess they can work it out. He does need his rest as well and Mighty Manuel has things under control.

Fridays are always good for Church - yeah, yeah you can throw the tomatoes now...

There was an instant in the game were the Braves' Outfielder Infante decided to interact with the fans. He seemed to have a smile on his face but we are not sure if it was a happy smile or an "I have it" smile.

Bottom of the 9th after David doubled, Beltran intentionally walked (which didn't really make sense to me - they could've pitched to him and get an out), they decided to pitch to Delgado - who was all over the ball last night. His hit wasn't all that impressive but Infante came into play again. This time around dear ol' Omar (Infante not Minaya) didn't have a smile on his face.

But the rest of the fans did.

Outcome of the game: Happy Fans and 2.5 up! - Yeah in case you were wondering the Phillies lost.

Dear Mets,
If you sign Arod, I am no longer using my writing genius to talk about the Mets on this website and i will be boycotting games next season. I will not spend 25 dollars a hot dog or 19 dollars a beer or pay 80 dollars a ticket to sit in my usual loge seats. I really never liked the guy as he was always a 24+1 player. He makes a gazillion dollars and even though some of the things i said on this web site seemed unappropriate at times, I still think he is only for himself and even though he is a great baseball player, He would not be a good fit at Shea this upcoming season for the reasons i already mentioned and also because of David Wright. Granted, David Wright would see a ton of fastballs hitting directly behind Arod and his numbers would improve greatly, but the move to second base is not what i envisioned for a third basemen who every met fan loves and can play the game in a way in which he impacts it daily. Arod is an amazing player but to gain a player who will cost 3 times as much as David and move David to second to only frustrate his efforts at third base as he was getting better and better by seasons end. See the only thing i dont get is Why get someone who is normally hated by Met fans as all i can see is when Arod hit a grand slam against the Mets and said something to LoDuca at home plate and almost started a fight. I just hope if they do decide to spend the 28-35 mill a year that they put some bonus incentives on there such as give him 20 mill extra if the Mets win 2 titles in 4 years or 4 in 8 years give him 40 million extra. But the thing that gets me is moving David to second when his game is improving and also the money which will go into signing arod. Now before i go since i have a ton of work to do, just think of what signing Arod will do the normal folk around the NY Metro area.

Having a Arod merchandise table located outside gate C (Part of contract)- 30 a shirt, 200 a jersey, (I would not buy a Arod jersey if it was the last jersey on earth and i needed it to stay warm to stay alive)
Beer - 12 dollars. Pretzels- 6 dollars. Soda- 6 dollars. Nachos- 6 dollars. Hot dog- 7 dollars. Foot long hot dog- 11 dollars. Chicken Fingers- 12 dollars. Subway- 16 dollars.
Foam Finger - 15 dollars. AROD # 1 (typical) foam finger- 20 dollars.
Steiner Sports pricing goes up 40 percent on Mets equipment.
Im not even going to get into sponsorship oppurtunites at shea and other items you can purchase at Shea. I really dont want to sign this guy so dont do it. Just look at my reasons.

I have been through all of the heartbreaks since i was 3 years old ( i was two when they won their last title ). I have been through all of the losing seasons. I have had numerous favirote players, Mackey Sasser ( I liked his name), Todd Hundley ( Greatest catcher of the 90's in my mind), Ho Jo ( I thought the Hotels were his and i always used to ask my dad, Is he there HO JO?), Edgardo Alfonzo, Rico Brogna, Darryl Strawberry ( I have his game used world series celebration jersey from 06 on my wall), Generation K ( no thats a joke), John Franco ( Pre- 2000), Dave Mlicki( How can you forget the first ever game at Yankee Stadium when the Mets beat the Yanks behind Mlickis arm and the hook slide of Todd Hundley, Yes i did the macarena in the last row of Yankee stadium at that game, Rey Ordonez, Tyushoshi Shinjo( How can you not, Orange wristbands and the weird stance, Al Leiter, Matt Franco, Robin Ventura, Todd Zeile, Joe Mcewing, Kevin Mcreynolds, Keith Hernandez, Jay Payton, Bobby Valentine (Mustache, enough said), Endy Chavez ( the catch), Chris Woodward ( diehards have to love bums once in a while), Bernard Gilkey, Lance Johnson, Mike Piazza ( everyone who reads this has my thoughts on Piazza, the greatest offensive player in the history of the Mets), Jason Phillips, Jose Reyes, Pedro, Beltran at times, Mike Cameron, Doug Mientkiewicz, and even though im missing a bunch, the best player in this generation David Wright (This is Wrightoholics isnt it?). Well those are my reasons, I can look to the past and see that every single player i named has never made more than Arod in a season and anyone all time hasnt but you can use 9 names towards the middle to lower tier and multiply their salaries by each other and see that they are still a ton less than one player. I dont want this team to be determined by 24 + 1 so do the Wright thing.

Please win next year, Im getting old.
